The Vanstaurant is our Italian kitchen on the road. When we began our Tigellae adventure, The Vanstaurant was our starting point back in 2012.
Some of our first events with the Vanstaurant were in central Manchester, where we started out making panini with crunchy Italian bread and all kinds of hot and cold fillings. Soon, we developed our menus even more and started to introduce regional pasta dishes, home-cured meats, Sicilian arancini, traditional lasagne, and desserts like cannoli and tiramisù. We’re always working on new menus and perfecting all the dishes you’d expect to find in an Italian trattoria.
As we’ve grown and grown, the Vanstaurant has grown with us. We became experts at loading up our food truck with every single thing we needed for an event. Each time we took it to a food festival or private event it looked a little different, a tiny bit better. We’ve looked after it, giving it a fresh lick of paint and treating it to new wheel covers and vinyl stickers. Year on year, we’ve made it look a tiny bit more beautiful.
In July 2019, we started serving Roman-style, wood-fired pizza from our kiosk at the Harewood Arms. As this became increasingly popular, we decided to add wood-fired pizza to our catering menus, too, and picked Amobox to help us with the project. They added a brand new, custom-built pizza oven to our food truck, and created a beautiful new kitchen space for us, too.
The Vanstaurant is a custom-made 2006 Ford Transit measuring almost 6.5 metres in length, 2.2 metres in width and 3.2 metres in height. Take a look at our blog to see more on its adventures over the years!
This is not just a food truck. It’s a member of our team.
People often tell us how much they love The Vanstaurant and that it’s one of the most gorgeous food trucks they’ve ever seen. We like to think of it as a little corner of Italy on the streets of the UK!
